Anti-STT Destined
I must not be destined to make a Sportbike Track Time event this year. Gina and I were all packed, loaded and ready to go to Mid-Ohio this past weekend, when trouble struck at 2:00am Saturday morning. I was suddenly hit with food poisoning (or the stomach flu). I don't fully know the difference between the two, but it wasn't fun. I lost 5 ...

Grattan Raceway – Practice/Testing Time
Often titled Monday Morning Grind, today's column is in fact that. After riding with NESBA this past weekend at Grattan, I'm tired and sore ... all over. It seems no matter how much I hit the gym, run and/or pedal, I can never fully duplicate the muscles that are used when riding a motorcycle around a track. Grattan is the most technical of the tracks we ...

How Not to Write a Race Resume
Going after sponsorship is an uphill battle. The majority of racers are looking for a free handout and don't know how to approach it correctly. Few understand how to actually generate ROI for a sponsor and at least make an attempt to represent them professionally. Sponsors want visibility. Unless you have a rich friend who wants to throw money (or products) your way, a sponsor ...

I-69, Mile Marker 70 – Not Quite Putnam Park
Sometimes there's a sign. It may be obvious; it may be not so obvious. When Bob and I pulled off to the side of I-69, near mile marker 70 in Indiana around 11:30pm on Friday night, that was our sign.It was about 30 degrees outside, with a strong wind chill. We had run out of gas. Or at least that's what we initially thought. A call to ...

Schwantz Quote
"At a track like this, with so many open fast turns, being able to follow someone is worth half a second a lap. It's not the draft down the front straight that's so helpful, but the rolling reference point as the rider ahead sits up to brake and turn in. But even though he followed me, I out-qualified him by half a second."- Kevin Schwantz

Have a Happy Easter ..
.. because Roger and Joe said so.Bob (Watson) and I will be freezing our tails off at Putnam Park during the holiday weekend. Go figure it was 70 and sunny last weekend, with a lovely high predicted to be in the 40s this weekend. I don't think there'll ...

First Shots Revealed
While not completely stickered and ready for display, you can see the first photographs of the R6 in the Flickr Photo boxes to the right. It's nothing radically different from last year, aside from added color to the lower (black, orange, white), the number plates (orange accents), and an alternate white rear wheel for a bit of an old school look. We're off to the ...
