Monday Morning Grind
While I haven't talked about it here, it still bears mentioning that Nicky Hayden won the MotoGP title. I couldn't believe Valentino crashed early on in the race, essentially deeming Nicky the champion right then and there. I do think Nicky could have pushed from third and gone to the front if he had to, but he knew after Rossi crashed he didn't need to push it.
What was also extremely impressive was Troy Bayliss hopping off his Ducati Superbike, and coming over for a one-off MotoGP race, and basically spanking the field; winning in convincing fashion. He hadn't raced the MotoGP bike all year, but comes over and qualifies 2nd, leads the whole race, and then wins. Again, very impressive.
As for me, I'm starting to work on some sponsorship stuff for the 06-07 race season. Send some things out, talk to people and try to find that one big sponsor to really help out for next year – never an easy task.
We also had our first round of the Great Lakes Mini-Motard Racing Series (www.glmmrs.com) this past weekend. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun racing on little fifties. I think the numbers will only get better once it gets really cold out. Hopefully we won't have to turn people away like we did last year.
(And Aaron, if you're reading this – get Dylan's 50 and come out and ride. Darren (Womack) needs some competition in the Superstock class :) ).
Cheers,
- eddie
