Monday Morning Grind
Gina and I went to Grattan this past weekend for a relaxing weekend at the track, hanging out, and generally not having the busier schedule that comes from a typical race weekend (nice for a change).
In not having ridden in the clockwise direction in some time, it was nice to get up to speed and be able to drop a second consistently from my best lap time at last year's WERA races. The times were done fairly comfortably, as I don't think it's generally a good idea to push 100% at a trackday, given the varying range of experience levels out on the track. I do need to find about two more seconds to be where I'd like to, and I think that's doable. Between the rider (me), bike setup (a couple clicks I thought about on the way home), and some fresh rubber (the rear had a bunch of laps on it, and the front was last year's model, which has a less aggressive profile, which noticeably affected turn in), we should be able to go faster when we race there in August.
Other than that, I stopped into Rec Leisure last week to pick up some Arata parts we had ordered. James had Nathan Dressman's bike up on the dyno with a new built motor in it, so look for some added speed out of his bike for the rest of the season. This adds to an already strong group of fast riders/bikes within the series. Being on an older bike, it definitely poses a challenge I'm looking forward to.
Cheers,
- eddie
