Thank You for Nothing
It's common for riders to thank the people who have helped them along to way. Without help from family, friends and sponsors, racing competitively (if at all) would be nearly impossible for many. It takes a lot of effort and more than one person to make it happen. Along the way there have been countless people that have been supportive and helped me accomplish what I have so far. And if you’ve been here before, you know how much I appreciate it.
However I'd also like to thank the people who didn't help. The ones who doubted. The ones who made it tough. The ones who were negative. I'd like to thank them. I'd like to thank the ones who like me, went from a smaller bike to a bigger bike and then quit or went back because it didn't work out for them. That drove me to not be like them. I'd like to thank those who attributed my earlier success solely on having a fast bike; forgetting the slow bike I started out on and won races with. I remember that. I'd like to thank the riders who toughened me up on the track this year – I needed it. I'd like to thank a couple people specifically for the backhanded compliments they sent my way in my first year on the 600. I remember them to this day and it drives me.
If I stopped racing today, I would leave knowing that while I haven't done anything special, I've personally accomplished what I never thought possible when I first visited the race track; and that’s pretty cool to me. This year I improved from where I was and became a better rider, but there's much more to accomplish. So I'd like to offer my appreciation to the negative ones who didn't help at all. Thank you for nothing, really.
Cheers,
- eddie

Well said. That is a very unique way of saying “thanks”. Kinda snarky too. I like it.
