Monday Morning Grind – D200 Edition
Congratulations are in order to Jonas McCluskey and Taylor Knapp. They finished 15th and 14th respectively (bumped one spot up after winner Josh Hayes was disqualified for an illegal crank modification) in the Daytona 200, held this past weekend.
Jonas had fellow Witchkraft Racing member Aaron Bagwell with him helping run the show, as well as a couple other hands on deck. They made the biggest jump in the field from the start of the race and finished with an excellent result, among 69 total competitors in the race. What's perhaps most impressive is that Jonas did not ride the previous CCS/ASRA weekend, like most everyone else had (for extra practice). They showed up Wednesday before the race without any time on the bike and immediately got down to business. Surprisingly fast pit stops and great riding by Jonas helped lock in their end result.
Taylor did extremely well also. Good friend Mark Gonyou was down there helping Taylor and his dad out. Throughout practice and qualifying Taylor was regarded as the fastest privateer in attendance. Once the race started however, engine problems plagued them and they were down on power after the first pit stop. They plugged along though and came out with a great result.
Congrats again to both Jonas and Taylor. Representing Michigan well.
Cheers,
- eddie
