AMA Mid-Ohio Recap (Tuesday)
Not a bad day today. I didn't ride much, as the number and variance in speed between riders in our group was pretty extreme. It was a mix of STT intermediate and advaced riders, which made it hard to put in consistent fast laps. That was to be somewhat expected though.
Gina was a big help in getting everything setup and maintained throughout the day (even after we had to move and switch paddock spots once the day was over). I sorted through some rear tire wear problems which were pretty bad early on. After a few suspension changes and a new rear tire, the wear was excellent. However after a few sessions, there are still a few things that I think can be done to help get our tire wear even better. Below you can see the rear tire after just two sessions earlier this morning.
Tomorrow is a KTM demo day, which will be featuring KTM's new 1000 RC8. Gina and I will just be hanging out, and I may do a couple sessions if I can, to try and get drop a few seconds before Thursday's promoter practice.
The big rigs are already starting to line up. Graves, Parts Unlimited, M4, Ducati, Red Bull and some others. Mark (Rozema) is here as well and we chatted for a bit earlier in the day. As a random FYI, Jessica Zalusky is here on a Yamaha R6 and it is a flat out rocket. I don't think there's a big weight difference between the two of us, but I started out behind her in a session today and she left me on the back straight. Maybe she was already running race gas.
Anyway, until tomorrow ..
Cheers,
eddie
