Burnt Out Excitement
Nelson Ledges is this weekend, which will be the last race event of the season. It's a mixed bag. The excitement to go racing is always there – but at this point, some time to recharge afterwards will be good. The nights in the garage, time spent traveling, the costs and everything else involved can make racing feel like a second job sometimes. Ironically enough, the time gaps this winter will likely be filled with training time at the gym, riding fifties and having Gonyou hack me on my way to the basket Monday nights – all of which I can somehow relate to racing.
While I am looking forward to the break, I'm already looking forward to next year and getting things started. For the past couple weeks I've been working on getting the ball rolling for 2010. Doesn't make much sense does it? Actually .. all I really need is a good week or two from anything race related and that should be enough to recharge the batteries, right? Come to think of it .. once the season is completely over, and the plans for next year are sorted … and just before going down south to ride over the winter … I can probably take some time away then. That is of course assuming I'm not preoccupied with a new bike that we can look at, tear down, put race parts on, and look at some more ..
On that note, the R6 is sold. While it's sad to see her go, it won't be long before our next bike is under the tent demanding attention. I still have one race left, but with that said – I will also be riding another bike for most of this upcoming weekend, which I'm really looking forward to. Even with some sketchy weather in the forecast, I can't wait for the weekend. Last race of the season … hang out with good friends .. throw a leg over a triple .. Who said anything about being burnt out?

Yea, right. We’ll see how burned out you really are. :)

That was some fun…playing with Garry’s 675 and locking up the last championship. Bittersweet too. It really is addictive making a plan, sticking to it and being successful. What a fantastic season. I’m kinda sad it has come to an end.
Me too Doug .. me too …
