Fourth Bits
The Sharkskinz bodywork arrived just last week. I pulled each piece out to inspect and the stuff is as good as it always is. Best stuff out there, hands down. It crashes well, it mounts well and it paints extremely well. To each their own, but it's worth the few extra bucks in my opinion. Not only does it hold up in the long run, it looks the best after being painted – obviously a good thing for sponsors. Thanks to Sharkskinz for again being part of the team for 2010 – especially during these tough times and when other companies are out there trying to duplicate what they've done.
As for what else is going on, some more work on the 50. After being the smallest bike out on the track last Wednesday (all minis, but mostly 124's, 150's or even a 170cc bike), I needed to give mine a little TLC. I took the swingarm off, regreased and reassembled it (there's still some slop in it, that's just how it is), checked to make sure none of the spokes were blown out and tightened the front axle that had come loose, causing the forks and brakes to vibrate when getting on them.
Next was ordering a new spark plug (just to be on the safe side), along with some new steering stem bearings (recommended by Justin) that are supposedly a little less-sloppy than stock. Dave at World Wide already had a set out before I could hit send on the email. Both of those should be here by Wednesday, so I can install and try that night.
I could use a new chain and sprockets, along with some other bits, but I'm keeping this as inexpensive as possible at this point with all the big-bike preparations happening. I can run with all the bigger bikes, but I need to dip back down into the 25's, something I'm not sure I did last Wednesday. I've still got to find my old MyChron laptimer to mount up. The AMB transponder worked well – it's just a matter of setting K2K's system to go longer than eight minutes before it stops catching the laps. I've got my dad's transponder charged and ready which Justin is going to use Wednesday, so we'll get a good sample of lap times.
