Necessary Improvements
Like anyone else, I've got goals for the upcoming season. Part of getting to them is working out a few weak spots at certain tracks. There are certainly places I can improve – some tracks more than others. Here's the quick list off the top of my head:
Grattan for one .. this has been my worst track compared to all others tracks based on the number of laps I've had there. First place that needs attention is the jump .. I know what I have to do. Go faster. Pretty simple. Everywhere else is just a little bit here and there. I think I've almost worked in some bad habits around Grattan just because I've had so many laps around there when I first started racing. This year I plan on not really doing any trackdays there, but just going right into a race weekend with the hammer down.
Nelson Ledges – the kink and into T12. I think this was the only place I was passed last year. The exit of T4 is also another spot I need to really get on the gas sooner and let the backend step-out a little if need be.
BeaveRun. For whatever reason, this is one of my favorite tracks. It's not long, it's not super technical – in fact it's almost boring – but for some reason it's fun and fast. And with that, there are a few spots I feel really good on the bike through around there. However T7 hasn't been one of them. I became better through there last year, but there's still more time to be found. Rob Jensen was killing it through there. Sammy was going real good through there as well. I need to get better through that section.
Mid-Ohio and VIR – everywhere. There's two-three seconds I need to find at both tracks. Plenty to work on – VIR because we were learning the place last year. Mid-O because we didn't race there last year and while I did do the Thursday promoter practice before the AMA weekend, it's just not the same as racing. But both tracks I really like … very technical and rewarding when clipping along.
Road Atlanta, Road America, Barber and maybe Bluegrass. These are places I just might visit this year and if so, lots of work to be had in learning a few new tracks and relearning one I hadn't been to since 2004. New and different tracks which would be good.
Now that I know what I need to do, it's just a matter of doing it.

I like going to different tracks too. I’m looking forward to the early VIR round. I’ll bring my snow shovel to clean off a spot for the trailer.
Yeah, hopefully we’ll be able to go ..
