Six Seconds
The bar was raised this past weekend. After seeing yesterday's lap times from the National races, we've got to find six seconds. There were fast laps all weekend; from the 6-hour endurance race on Saturday, to the National sprints that went on yesterday. The combination of great weather and fast riders made for an above-average increase in speed across the board, not to mention a new overall lap record set by Rob Jensen of a 1:17.8 on his GSXR-1000. Tray Batey of Vesrah Suzuki (the previous lap record holder) was right there as well all weekend running low 18's, his fastest times around Grattan. My dad and I agreed we should have been there for the experience of getting pulled along with the National guys.
I'm not concerned about those times as much as the top 600 lap times, but the bottom line is that there's more speed to be found at my home track than I previously thought. Taylor Knapp, Brent Bennett and Shawn Conrad illustrated that yesterday. Congrats to Brent, as I think he may have set a new 600 lap record around Grattan.
