Recently I spoke with Scott Bolton of Samco USA and asked him a few questions about their motorcycle silicone hose kits. I don't think a lot of people know about these kits and what kind of affect they can have on the performance of their race bike. Samco kits are used in a variety of disciplines, from MotoGP to F1 and nearly every series in between.

Q. Why should I use Samco hoses over OEM or any other aftermarket brands?

Every Samco kit is made by hand in the UK and each hose is visually inspected before it leaves the Samco factory. Q. What kind of performance gain can I see with Samco hoses?

For the best looks and performance it has to be silicone. Silicone hoses operate at much higher temperatures and pressures than other rubbers. They don’t perish and they look great. If you are tuning your engine and pushing it to its limit, you don’t want your hoses to let you down. The kits themselves tend to lower engine temperatures an average of 5-9 degrees Fahrenheit, and a cooler-running engine is a faster engine.

Q. Are the kits complete for my bike? What about clamps?

Yes the hoses themselves are complete for your bike. However we do recommend that the customer orders the corresponding Clamp Kit, as the clamps should always be replaced with the hoses and using our clamps, as it guarantees the lifetime warranty.

Q. Who else uses Samco?

Most all Formula 1 teams, WRC World Rally, MotoGP, WSB World Superbike, BSB British Superbike, OEM auto and even bus manufactures, military, commercial.

Q. Is there any different maintenance compared to OEM hoses?

Fit them and forget them really. We offer a Silicone Hose Wipe kit to help keep them retain their shiny look, but for the most part – keeping them clean one way or another like any aspect of your bike, is all you need to do.

Q. What colors are available?

Each bike has approximately two colors imported into the US for each model bike. However there are a range of colors available from blue, red, black, yellow, orange, purple, green, dark green, pink, camo, silver, ice white, flame, gunmetal and more. Some of these colors are special order and can take a few weeks to be made and delivered.
