Grattan CCW Flashback
It's been awhile since I've raced at Grattan going counter-clockwise – several years or so. We will be racing there this weekend in that direction without any prior testing time beforehand, which is unlike us to do. We do have the bikes ready to go (even the SV too!) and with Saturday's track day with Sportbike Track Time to get up to speed, I'm optimistic we'll be good once Sunday's races come around.
Below are some photos from the archives, taken in 2008 when we running counter-clockwise. At the time, Jamie Hanshaw had just finished our engine on Saturday last-minute, where I picked it up and drove it to the track while the race weekend was happening – where we had the engine in the bike Saturday night and ready for Sunday's races. We were on a short time table for track time, but ended up setting the fastest lap of the weekend, if I remember correctly. With the lack of track time heading into this weekend, hopefully we can again get up to speed quickly.
On a side note, Aaron will be racing in the AMA Supersport class this weekend over at Mid-Ohio at the same time. Best of luck to him, as he's chasing down his dreams of running at the Pro level which is great. I'd like to get back there when healthy and can be fully competitive, but for now that'll have to wait. I'm extremely happy to be out on a bike racing, with great sponsors and support from everyone helping me this year. I'm really looking forward to putting in some good times as we get rolling into the second half of the season.
If you see Aaron this weekend, stop by and give him a hand with a rear stand or tire warmer. Doug's going to be there, but he's still not allowed to do any of that stuff with his back recovery still in full swing. :)
